Getting Married?

We are delighted that you are considering a Church Wedding and would love to talk to you about getting married with us.

Below are some of the Questions people frequently ask us and which may
help you to think about the preparations for your day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to live in the Parish of St John’s with St Mary’s to get married at your churches?

If you live in our area (what we call the ‘Parish’) and you have not been married before then you have the right to get married in either St John’s or St Mary’s. If you live outside the area you need to be able to show that you have a connection with our church or the Parish. You can find out more by visiting the Church of England’s page ‘More Churches to Choose From’ where you can find guidelines which explain the connections which will allow you to get married here.

How can I find out which Parish I live in?

You can go to ‘More Churches to Choose From’ to find your local church. Please note that if your address comes up as either ‘St John’s Mansfield’ or ‘Ladybrook St Mary the Virgin’ then you live in our area. We have recently joined the two parishes together but the website has not been updated yet.

What if one of us is divorced?

At St John’s and St Mary’s it may be possible to be married if you are divorced – but we ask you to meet with us and be willing to talk honestly about your past.  The best thing is just to get in touch.

How much does it cost?

There are fees for getting married with us, but the exact amount depends on which options you choose. Please give us a call and we can discuss your individual needs with you.
We do also request a £40 deposit when you book.
